Leadership Development Strategy for Nationalised Banks

The Banks Board Bureau (the Bureau) is pleased to announce that Indian Institute of Management - Bangalore (IIM-B) has been identified from amongst the globally ranked Indian Management Institutes, where senior management personnel from the nationalised banks will undergo an intensive leadership development journey.

2. In a unique collaborative effort, the design of this programme has been curated by the nationalised banks for the nationalised banks with active support of the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance; Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) and a Knowledge Partner – Ms Egon Zehnder International Pvt. Ltd.

3. The objective of this programme is to help in the efforts being made by the nationalised banks to have a leadership pipeline which will take on the present and emerging challenges in a competitive marketplace.

4. The commencement of this journey also marks a beginning in the realisation of a mandate given to the Bureau viz., “to help banks to develop a robust leadership succession plan for critical positions through appropriate HR processes”.

5. The Bureau, along with the Reserve Bank of India, continues to engage with the Government in pursuit of the recommendations made in the past as part of the various other mandates.
